The effect of this is to make the viewer focus more on the news reports and being told before we see anything that the nature of society is. Another effect that we have is that it deprives us of sight, so it becomes confusing and unsettling to us as we are trying to find out where the voice is coming from and what is happening. It connects with what people in society are feeling as well with the unsettling and unease of the event that is going on around them.
